Longest Day Community Memorial Service

The Altus community has endured so much since March of 2020. The onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic and the subsequent quarantines and social distancing to protect our community has caused many devastating consequences for the people living in Southwest Oklahoma. One of those unintended consequences has been the inability to have family and friends come together for funeral services and memorial services. Either families opted for limited graveside services or no services at all.

The members of the Martha Road Baptist Church (MRBC) have scheduled a community memorial service for those who have passed away from the COVID-19 virus in Jackson County and the surrounding areas since March 2020. Family members who have lost loved ones for reasons other than COVID-19 may also participate.

The community memorial service will be held at MRBC on June 20 at 4 PM. This date is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. Those who have lost loved ones during the pandemic may feel like they have had many long days this past year. This memorial service is one way to begin the healing process.

A memorial worship service featuring Blake and Jenna Bolerjack, music artists from Oklahoma City, will be open to the public.
